Green and Lean
CLI recently added a new plant-wide recycling program to their     sustainability efforts.  The program converts non-recyclable label substrates into sustainable fuel pellets that are purchased by coal fired power plants as an alternative energy source, significantly reducing waste-to-landfill.   The Label waste (matrix and set up materials) is loaded into reusable containers provided by Rohn Industries, a local Twin Cities recycling transfer station.  The waste material is compacted and transported to Greenwood Fuels in Green Bay Wisconsin, who processes and converts the waste in to fuel pellets.

CLI continues to seek and implement the most efficient, responsible and sustainable manufacturing practices to reduce our impact and carbon footprint on the environment.

Commerce Label donated printed labels that are being used on a product to raise money for the Serving Our Troops organization.  On November 1st, 2011 Fantom Optics offered a limited edition of “Support our Troops” lens cleaner, the bottle labels printed by Commerce Label.  A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the Serving Our Troops event “St Paul to Kuwait” on February 9^th, 2012.

With more than 2,300 Minnesota National Guard soldiers from the 34th Red Bull Infantry currently serving in Kuwait, Serving Our Troops and a full team of volunteers will be providing a message of thanks on February 9th and support in the form of a massive simultaneous meal to both our soldiers overseas in Kuwait and their family members back home – all linked via live video. It’s a simple thing…dinner with the family.
